The curtain closes on The US Open 2007 – Tennis Grand Slam. 2 weeks of non-stop tennis action with the usual suspects smashing their way to the finals. Quite unfortunately, I didn’t even get to see Nadal who crashed out of a place in the quarter finals due to hand cramp and knee injury. He lost to fellow Spaniard, David Ferrer who won in a four set victory 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-2.

There were no surprises in the Men’s Finals as the Great Roger Federer took the championship title (for the 4th time) after a dramatic and hard-fought, 7-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory over Serb Novak Djokovic.
No. 1 Belgium’s Justine Henin took down Russia’s Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-1, 6-3, to win her second US Open Women's title. Henin proved that agility, accuracy and smart game play was more important then sure strength and that loud tennis grunt. On her win, she climbed up the audience booths towards the VIP area where her family and coach of 14 years were seated. That was quite a feat!

Spotted at the big matches were the whose who of Hollywood - Catherine Zeta-Jones with Micheal Douglas, Jerry Seinfeld, Martha Stewart and Dustin Hoffman. It's literate to say "When the night fall - the STARS come out"!

With that closure, I’ll also soon be saying ADIOS to my cable subscription by the end of the month. While it lasted, I truly enjoyed my live tennis games… they’ll be missed…

The New York time difference was totally damaging to my sleep. With matches starting at 11pm, 3am and high profile night games in the early mornings at 7am. Towards the end of 2 weeks, I was totally zonked. Consumed an excessive amount of caffeine for my standard – like 3 cups in the week. Definitely perked me up at work.

I’m making it a point to sleep early these days… on that note… I should be calling it a night.
