It's OSCAR DAY! Having marked out my Oscars 2009 Predictions last night, I awoke this morning anticipating what my winning score will be like. As I was preparing to dash out to the office, CNA was screening live footage of the Red Carpet Ceremony! I would have taken the day off if not for a string of meetings throughout the day. Catching the Oscars live, hot from the oven is always a treat.

I remember the good old days in film school, lecturers in between classes will hide themselves in an office, and re-appearing periodically to mark the winning results on a score sheet pinned on the door. Passing students along the corridor will crowd around awaiting eagerly for each category to be filled. Some of us had "walkmans" with TV Sounds! I owned one. We would have an earpiece stuck in discreetly during lessons, today the same scenario is practiced with the iPod. We were all tuned in and all was forgiven, only on Oscar Day. It was all very old school... those were days before real time internet!

2 themes stood out at this year's Oscars. Indians and Gays...

I scored 10 out of my 19 predictions. I expected Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire" to bag the bigger awards but the movie was sweeping practically every other significant technical award! Begging a total of 8 Oscars!
