There can't be anybody in Singapore who haven't remotely heard about the Nicoll Highway collapse. The massive collapse about the size of 2 basketball courts happened yesterday afternoon at around 3:30pm. The accident occurred after a temporary supporting wall for a tunnel of the MRT's Circle Line collapsed bringing down a stretch of highway. 1 is reported dead, while 3 remains missing. The effect of the collapse spread toward the towers of Suntec, Marina Bay, The Esplanade and Golden Mile Complex. Power supplies were cut off for a good 20 mins while traffic have to take a detour. In fact, I was traveling towards Marine Parade, usually taking either bus nos. 36, 16 or 10 which literally runs through Nicoll. I was stuck on the 16 bus for an additional 25 mins while the bus took a long round to pick passengers at Kallang.

I can't recall a more dramatic event (of such nature) since the collapse of Great World Hotel. Every single channel has this news reporting, every 1/2 hour.
Think the greater effect will be on traffic situations. Wonder what the routes of the affected buses will be for now.
