This performance by The Dim Sum Dollies (Selena Tan, Pam Oei & Emma Yong) was a birthday treat for Sr. Wendy. Then again, the "evil" twin Wendy & I have been dying to catch a musical for a while. Since "The Forbidden City" starring Kit Chan, I can't recall catching a local production. I've never caught a Dim Sum Dollies act and this was the LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS! Another Frank Oz movie I adored from yester years. I also sort of recall the 1960s version starring a very young and handsome Jack Nicholson.
Who would have taught that The Voice of Audrey II (Dave Tan) turned out to be the cousin (or nephew) of Sr. Wendy. He also happened to be the lead singer of this local band called Electrico... Who? NVM... I loved his Audrey II T-Shirt.
The music, story outline and characterisation were similar to movie. The Singapore twist put a fun element to show. The puppet Audrey II plant was nicely created. Except for those mis-lip sync moments. In terms of value for money, I would think that ticket prices could have been $15 - $20 cheaper. But since secondary school days, ticket prices have risen around 100%. Gheez...
We ended the performance with an autograph session. Took pictures with the Dollies and Sr. Wendy got to catch up with the Electrico Star. Now I gotta catch Frank Oz’s HORROR again! "Little Shop, Little Shop of Horrors... Bup Chit Bup... Little Shop of Terrors..."
