Just over the weekend I finally decided to make a purchase for my very own personal domain name www.natashayong.com! I picked it up at GoDaddy.com at USD$6.95 per year. I figured it was a good time to take advantage of the more attractive US dollar exchange rate. And with inflation rate of things raising at an almost alarming rate, I decided to pick up a 5 years offer.

For about SGD$10.50; the GoDaddy.com package includes:
* Choice of your Domain Name
* Free Email Account and Forwarding (with your domain eg. name@yourdomain.com)
* Free Hosting with Web Site Builder (however, it comes with Ads and doesn't look all that great)
* Quick Blogcast (a combination of a blog and podcast into a single Web site)
* For Sale Web Page (a perfect page to let others know that your domain name is for sale)

Now even when you type in http://natashayong.blogspot.com, you will be re-directed to www.natashayong.com. I hope to build my branding upon just the domain concept, but we'll see how that goes.

Along with the new name comes a new skin!
Decided to pick a Web 2.0 theme that stuck close to the Polaroid design which I've been using for a while.

Part of the re-design is to incorporate tab links for my portfolio and resume pages. These pages are still currently work-in-progress while I sort out what to feature.
There are also other tweaks here and there that I will need to touch up on.

Now that there is an annual recurring cost for the domain, I gave AdSense advertising on my site some thought. Basically, AdSense matches ads to your site's content, and you earn money whenever your visitors click on them. As of now, I'm trying it as a means to fray off some of these running cost. My site has been generating a steady stream of visitorship; averaging from 4,000 - 6,000 unique visitors per month. However, recently with the change of domain, the nos have dropped drastically. It will take time again for the search engines to crawl through.

I picked up some tips from Joel Comm (Google AdSense Guru) online and am seriously considering to build this as another of my AIR Project. It's very viable and I've always believed that the Internet holds loads of potential.
