Pope John Paul's II Funeral
Rome - We'll bid farewell to Papa on this day with an expected crowd of over 4 million from all over the world at St. Peter's Square at 1600hrs (Singapore Time). Four kings, five queens, at least 70 presidents and prime ministers and more than 14 leaders of other religions including US presidents George W Bush, his father George Bush and Bill Clinton, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Prince Charles will be present. The Pope will be laid to rest in a cramped underground cemetery beneath St Peter's Basilica at the Vatican where pontiffs throughout the ages, royals and even an emperor share.

England - The royal wedding was suppose to have taken place on 8 April. However due to the Pope's funeral, the couple have decided to postpone the event 1 day later on 9 April.
Hybrid Eclipse of the Sun
Southern USA - A hybrid eclipse of the Sun will be visible from within a narrow corridor which traverses the far Southern Hemisphere. The path of the Moon's shadow begins southeast of New Zealand and stretches across the Pacific Ocean to Panama, Colombia and Venezuela. A partial eclipse will be seen within the much broader path of the Moon's penumbral shadow, which includes New Zealand, much of the South Pacific, South and North America.
The path of this event begins as an annular eclipse but it changes to total about 2200 km south of Tahiti. At maximum eclipse (UT), the duration of totality is 45 seconds. Unfortunately, the total portion of the track never crosses land. The path becomes annular again about 800 km west of Costa Rica. By the time the shadow reaches the coast of Costa Rica, the annular phase will already be 12 seconds and growing. After crossing Panama and Colombia, the central path ends in Venezuela where a 33 second annular eclipse will occur at sunset.
