More rain again...
Anyway, I just returned from an "Information On Demand" track seminar and some figures I gathered were pretty interesting. I thought when I was a kid that when I grew up, I would come to know EVERYTHING! And now that I am some what grown up, I feel there's more that I actually don't know; more then what I do. The knowledge that we can quite easily obtain knowledge out there have made my brain feel extremely small. Of cause ultimately, it's how you apply what you've learnt that produces results. My new philosophy today is - "You don't need to know everything, but you need to know how to FIND it". Then comes actually making sense out of the info and applying it correctly. But still with all these available resources, you'd be very surprise at how many people either don't know or don't care to know how to fully utilize it's potential.

Google, the largest and most successful search engine company claims that it has only indexed 10% of ALL the information in the WWW.
Come 2012 (that's 7 more years), the world will have 30x more information to deal with.
85% of all these information remains unstructured. Basically means stuff that either cannot or are not archived properly into some form of database to easily retrieved. These are stuff like our faxes, emails, SMSes, MMSes, MSN chat etc. Emails and SMSes are already treated as documentation for court of law in some countries.
30% of people's time is spent searching for the relevant information.
30-50% of IT budgets are spent on data integration.
42% (probably higher in Asia) of transactions are still paper base.

Driving just got tougher on the Information Highway.

  1. normal is subjective... there's no good or bad... it's how people perceive what is good and bad, what is acceptable or unacceptable.

Ultimately, you'll have to answer to yourself and your maker. Every action has a consequence - results vary...
