St Paul Journey Banner
'The Teaching and Message of St. Paul' Banner Design

It's been a good year for me (so far) spiritually. Ever since my return from WYD08, I haven't had too much time to contemplate on the entire experience. Before you know it, 2 months has whizzed by since my return in late July. Maybe it's God's way of reminding me of the importance of 'service'. In the last 2 weeks, I've been roped in (quite unexpectedly) to be part of the a few programs happening in church.

First on the list was to design a banner and poster for the upcoming 'The Teaching and Message of St. Paul' by Rev Mgr Eugene Vaz. 28 June 2008 - 29 June 2009 is officially dedicated as the Jubilee Year of St. Paul. Uncle James was looking for help to design a banner (W-119" x H-39", 150 pixels/inch) and A3 poster (W-297mm x H-420mm) for publicity. Having gotten the chance to learn about St. Paul during my 'Journey Within' sessions with the Daughters of St. Paul, I was drawn to contribute my talents. The designs you see now are the 1st unapproved drafts. I'm still waiting for comments and changes (if any) before they are sent for print.

Details of the talk:
THE TEACHING AND MESSAGE OF ST PAUL
- The structure and the main features of St Paul's Letters
- What are the messages?

Venue: The Auditorium at St Teresa's Church

All are welcomed

Toward the end November, we'll be embarking on another 4 days of Youth Camp. The theme for this year - 'The ONE'. We already sparked off some email jokes on how mysterious and matrix-like the title sounds! I'm sure the camp will be a good ONE! I've been tasked with Camillus to be in-charge of GAMES!

I was hard at work last week, enquiring and gathering quotes for various activities which included; Kayaking (through mangroves to a Kelong or along the scenic waters of the Singapore River), Forest Adventure; a tree top adventure course in Bedok and Laser Quest; with all its brutal combat action! Laser Quest was supposed to be one of last year's Youth Camp highlights. Unfortunately, it poured so badly we couldn't proceed with the activity. The kids were noticeably very upset.

Just over the weekend, Camillus did a quick survey on the top activity choices - the results:
1) Laser Quest
2) Forest Adventure
3) Amazing Race

Due to budget constrains, Iwan proposed to plan for some combat laser action and some heart pumping racing. Similar to what we put together for the 'Amazing Race Ubin' last year; we're thinking of a scaled down Singapore version this time round. The budget just got approved this morning and any additional generous donations / sponsors for the camp are most appreciated :)

Just today, Francis called late morning to rope me into the organising team for a STYG REUNION. How nostalgic. Totally reminded me of how much fun putting together the Yearbook post was. The event will be nearer to Christmas and Francis has this idea to hold the dinner at a Chinese restaurant with 5 - 10 tables. We have a stage, cheesy decorations and a MC! As of now, I've been tasked to put together the photo montage; but I've been since thinking that photographs of our yesteryears should be part of the deco. It'll be a great opportunity to get friends whom we grew up with together once again. More importantly, is to open up avenues for them to serve or create a support group for each other.

And before the year draws to a close, we will need to squeeze in our annual mission trip to Tanjung Pinang Asrama Putra. Already I'm looking forward to the end of the year, which also means; I better start preparing for CHRISTMAS!
