Wendy 30th Birthday Outback Steakhouse 01052010

Where do you bring a girl with the soul of ABBA on her significant 30th Birthday? Let's just say we found the most appropriate Retro Themed venue at Hotel Re! It screamed W-E-N-D-Y, from colours to concept to old school booth games! Imagine competing in a round of Pac Man on them!

Unfortunately the greater plan did not pull through and we decided to pick the great O' Aussie Outback. If there's anything this girl will enjoy, is a piece of bloody medium rare steak! As they do it in Ozzie Land, Outback Steakhouse at Millenia Walk is cozy with little pretense of needing to impress, the classic no-nonsense "lets get on with it" attitude. It was simply a fun get-together place.

To claim itself on being an outback steakhouse, the food tasted nothing Australian. Still the portions were generous and it tasted delicious (not in the authentic way)! It was unfortunate the service was horrible, and perhaps reflective of the Ozzie culture...

Bushman 'Shrooms - Mushrooms deep fried and served with spicy ranch dressing. The batter tasted like KFC and we rated it better then Seletar Airbase's mushrooms.

The Bloomin' Onion is a signature Outback item. It is a one pound onion cut to 'bloom' open, breaded, deep-fried and served with mayonnaise-horseradish sauce. However, we were told that the 'onions' were out of season and there were insufficient stock to be shipped into the country. We had instead the 'Tornado Onion'. Pretty much onion rings placed in a twirling manner to represent a 'tornado'... definitely lack the trill of the 'full bloom'.

We had a whole bunch of other stuff which included the Aussie Cheese Fries, Buffalo Style Chicken Wings, Alice Springs Chicken and Sizzling Sirloin... Everything would have tasted even better with beer. Why in the world did we settle for bottomless soft drinks?!?!
