This isn't Jersey Boys the musical, this isn't a celebrity look alike... this is Frankie Valli, in flesh, performing live in his one night only concert in Singapore. Those aware will know how big a contribution Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons are to the 60s music scene. Frankie Valli is undoubtedly one of the most influential figures in the music industry; this man is legend!

In case you are wondering how a 80s kid like me became such a fan. The movie soundtrack geek in me grew very familiar with the band's music in a number of my favourite films growing up, such as "Grease", "Dirty Dancing", "When She Danced" and "Sleepers". Following the extremely enjoyable Jersey Boys the musical last year, there was no way on earth I would miss the REAL Fankie Valli.

The band Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons was formed in the 1960s and swept the charts with the release of their first album, featuring the single "Sherry", which was not only their first charted hit but also their first number-one song. The success of "Sherry" was quickly followed by "Big Girls Don't Cry" (their second #1 hit), "Walk Like a Man" (their third #1), "Candy Girl" and "Ain't That a Shame". From 1962 to 1978, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons sold more than 100 million records; only the Beach Boys matched the Four Seasons in record sales in the United States. I now regret not catching the Beach Boys concert last year... big mistake!

It was my first concert at the The Star Theatre at The Star Performing Arts Centre in Buona Vista, or better known as the New Creation Church venue. Unfortunately, the voice of Fankie Valli was too overpowering for The Star's speakers. The higher pitched hallmark voice of Valli clipped, producing a rather annoying ring to the ears. Fortunately, Valli at age 79, packed in the tunes and grooved the crowd. Over 2 hours of non-stop chart topping hits made up for the crappy sound system. The crowd was on their feet for the the classic "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", a Frankie Valli signature and "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)".

It was a privilege to enjoy the night with the legend, Frankie Valli. I could only wish that the original Four Seasons performed together.
